Ellen Mather is a politically minded Northern designer, researcher and educator based in London.

A practitioner for ten years. She is currently lead branding designer at Soapbox, a creative studio for ideas that matter. Soapbox partner with forward-thinking policy, research and advocacy organisations to turn knowledge and evidence into social progress.
Previous design experience has been within the commercial and cultural sectors.

Her approach spans numerous disciplines: art direction, book design, brand strategy, curation, data visualisation, editorial design, exhibition design, identity systems, wayfinding and workshops.

Alongside this, she is currently undertaking a Master’s in Brands, Communication and Culture at Goldsmiths. Here her research practice explores contemporary forms of communication and cultural practices, focusing on the relationships between brands and society.
